Grays Osteopath

Is pain beginning to interfere with your day to day activities, stopping you from working or enjoying leisure activities? Struggling to find the time to treat the root cause?

Are you suffering from any of the following?

  • Low back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Joint pains
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Headaches
  • Nerve pains
  • Sciatica / Neuralgia
  • Muscular problems
  • Postural problems
  • Sports injuries
  • Arthritic pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Rheumatic pain
  • Inability to relax
  • Generalised aches and pains

If you do, the osteopathic treatments at our Grays Osteopath clinic is the perfect solution for not only relieving the pain, but also finding the root cause of the problem.

How we assess you

  • Thorough Case History taking
  • Standing postural examination [& sitting if required]
  • Active movement observations
  • Passive / Palpation examination (feeling the movement of relevant joints and the state of muscles etc.) to determine any differences from normal
  • Special tests. This will be determined by what you present with – for example, we may need to perform tests for nerve damage, knee cartilage damage, interference with blood flow etc.

As an example regarding posture, it may be that we need to check your leg lengths if you have headaches, as difference in leg length can cause a spinal curvature [scoliosis] further causing neck muscle tension. This may bring on the headache. Thereby tackling the neck muscles alone will not stop the problem from recurring.

Effective treatment begins with an effective diagnosis.

Book your appointment with Grays Osteopathic Centre and you can be reassured that your symptoms will be investigated thoroughly by a skilled professional to reach an accurate evaluation.

In the vast majority of cases we will start treatment (having obtained your consent) immediately. On occasions it may be necessary to seek further tests or investigations. These could include MRI Scans, blood tests, X Rays etc. We work closely with a range of providers of these services.

Visiting an Osteopath

  • This is similar to visiting any Registered Medical Practitioner.
  •  The Osteopath will want to know how the symptoms began and factors that affect them.
  • Please bring a list of any medications you take.
  • After a full case history is taken you will be given a postural examination and possibly asked to perform a simple series of movements.
  • This is followed by a structural examination to identify any problems.
  • You may also be given orthopaedic, neurological or circulatory examinations (e.g. reflexes, blood pressure, etc.) to aid the diagnosis.

The osteopath will explain the findings, the appropriate course of action and treatment for your specific requirements. The osteopath can also suggest exercise programmes to both improve and maintain flexibility, strength and core stability as well as advising on work space ergonomics and working practices. These measures are designed to help prevent a recurrence of your problem.
